In the summer of 1993, Maria D’Angelo founded The Children’s Lifesaving Foundation (CLF). Maria’s desire to work with young people stems from her initial experiences as a volunteer at a homeless shelter in Central Los Angeles, as well as her own experiences as an immigrant child in America, and her years teaching in New York. Francesca has been working with the Children’s Lifesaving Foundation for over ten years; in this period of time, she has worked in almost every administrative and program capacity- as grant-writer, office manager, receptionist, camp counselor, art director, and knows the inner workings of the CLF’s infrastructure, inside and out! Additionally, she has helped in the organization and execution of tens of fundraising events, acted as case worker, family liaison, and initiated new program initiatives. Francesca also acts as our Director of Development, as well. She received her BA from New York University in 1991, and has worked on the senior administrative staff of “Stand-Up for Kids-L.A.” She is also a writer, and has published in Adbusters, Utopianist, Vimooz, and the Malibu Times.
The CLF was founded by Maria D’Angelo, and her children, Francesca and Sean, have followed her example, and are founding staff members….We are a family that works to help other families, and have had the experience and challenges to comprise over 70 years of experience between us…
We have extremely low overhead expenses, and employ the use of an incredible volunteer network, and hire our amazing staff seasonally.
